Marnie graduated from Melbourne University, MBBS in 1995. She is a member of the RACGP and has been working in general practice for almost 30 years.
Early in her career, she worked in England and Ghana, then returned to Australia to work in student and women’s health. More recently, Marnie has worked at Kensington Cohealth, which is a refugee health hub where she enjoys working with a very multiculturally-diverse population.
Marnie completed her 2 year medical acupuncture course with AMAC (the Australian Medical Acupuncture College) in 2023 . She joined the Victorian Committee in 2025.
Whilst still working as a GP, Marnie now works predominantly as a medical acupuncturist.
She uses both needles and hand-held red light laser, often in combination. (Laser acupuncture is a good alternative for patients who do not like needles.)
She does not use cupping / moxa / Chinese herbs.
There is growing evidence for the benefits of acupuncture in a variety of women’s health conditions: pelvic pain, endometriosis, vulvodynia, heavy menstrual bleeding, period pain, premenstrual dysphoria, fertility issues, menopause, and bladder symptoms.
Marnie will initial offer fortnightly morning sessions at Maven Centre, offering medical acupuncture for women’s health conditions. As she is only working fortnightly at this stage, Marnie will not be offering acupuncture for fertility issues.
First appointments will essentially be for history-taking and examination, as well as explanation about acupuncture, and will take around 45 minutes. Acupuncture treatment will mostly commence from the second appointment onwards.
