Dr Sneha Parghi (pronounced ‘snay-ha’) is a specialist Gynaecologist and one of the Directors of Maven Centre. Her medical experience combined with a personal approach to patient care ensures that every woman she sees feels empowered to make decisions about their bodies and health.
Dr Parghi graduated from Adelaide University in 2006, and subsequently worked in Brisbane, Alice Springs and overseas with Médecins Sans Frontières (in Haiti) before returning to Australia to undertake specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
She has worked at many different hospitals across the country including the Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Logan Hospital, Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital and Gold Coast Hospital in Queensland, as well as the Royal Womens’ Hospital, the Northern Hospital, Bendigo Base Hospital and Sunshine Hospital in Victoria.
Pursuing a special interest, she undertook further training in Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery in 2016 under Associate Professor Alex Ades, Dr Philip Thomas and Dr Kenneth Leong, and then obtained her fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 2019.
She has worked as a consultant O&G at Joan Kirner Womens and Children’s (Sunshine) Hospital since obtaining her fellowship and is committed to caring for patients in Melbourne’s western corridor. She is passionate about environmental sustainability in healthcare settings and is a member of Doctors for the Environment Australia (DEA).
Dr Parghi’s special interests include:
- Minimally invasive gynaecological surgery including hysterectomy, management of fibroids, management of ovarian cysts
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Pelvic pain and endometriosis
- Laparoscopic transabdominal cerclage
- Colposcopy
In addition to consulting at Maven Centre’s main consulting rooms in St Albans, Sneha also consults at John Fawkner Private Hospital (in Coburg). Dr Parghi has surgical admitting rights at Western Private Hospital (Footscray), John Fawkner Private Hospital (Coburg), and Epworth Freemasons (Albert Street, East Melbourne).
Dr. Parghi is a woman, a mother, a confidante and an advocate. As a mother of three, she has been both a patient and the parent advocating for a patient. She acknowledges the need for clear and open communication and feels privileged to be able to provide that at Maven Centre.
