Dr Aekta Neel (pronounced ‘ek-ta’) is originally from Canada; she has an undergraduate degree in psychology (BSc) from the University of British Columbia. She moved to Australia in 2007, and completed medical school at Flinders University (in Adelaide). She then moved to Melbourne and completed her obstetrics and gynaecology specialty training. Dr Neel currently holds public appointments at the Royal Women’s Hospital and Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s (Sunshine Hospital).
Dr Neel is thorough, empathetic, and believes in holistic healthcare. Her main focus is a patient-centred approach: she will take the time to explain, and answer your questions, to ensure that you fully understand your care.
Dr Neel is also passionate about teaching the next generation of doctors: she is a Clinical Teaching Fellow for the University of Melbourne, and a Training Supervisor for RANZCOG in her public roles.
When not at work, Dr Neel enjoys travelling, yoga, and is learning how to play golf.
Aekta is currently on Long Service Leave and will be joining the Maven Centre team in May 2023.
