Fiona is a General surgeon with advanced speciality training in colorectal surgery. She treats all colorectal conditions and has a particular interest in managing colorectal cancer.

Fiona is passionate about holistic cancer care, and firmly believes in developing a long-lasting therapeutic relationship with her patients. She believes effective care does not stop at an operation: an effective surgeon takes the time to get to know their patient, and the best results occur when they work together.

Fiona believes in staying up-to-date with global advances in healthcare, using a scientific approach to assess safety, and offering cutting-edge treatments to her patients wherever possible. She has an active research program which keeps her connected with international peers and experts, who join her in striving for excellence.

With over 15 years of experience in the medical profession, Fiona trained with leading doctors in England before immigrating to Australia, undertaking general surgical training in Melbourne and becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Fiona was then accepted into the globally-recognised colorectal surgery training program, provided by the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). This competitive, multi-year program enabled her to work alongside some of the best surgeons in Australia including at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, John Hunter Hospital (Newcastle) and Royal Adelaide Hospital. Fiona is a proud member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

It was during this specialist training that she developed expertise in minimally invasive colorectal surgery (keyhole surgery), advanced cancer surgery and TAMIS (Trans-Anal Minimally Invasive Surgery). She also specialises in the management of inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), and works closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide professional and tailored care to her patients.

She works as a Colorectal Surgeon at Footscray, Sunshine and Williamstown Hospitals and is the Director of Clinical Training (Surgery) for Western Health. She is also a Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne and is passionate about teaching and mentoring medical students, junior doctors and trainee surgeons.

We provide a safe welcoming space.
