Dr Melissa McGauran, originally from rural Victoria, moved to the big smoke for medical training and graduated from Monash University in 2009. She completed her specialist obstetrics and gynaecology training through Western Health, including time at The Royal Women’s Hospital and Ballarat Hospital. During her final years she focused her training on gynaecological oncology, including at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse (a cancer centre in Sydney). This has honed her operating skills, increased her capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team and reinforced the importance of women-centred care. She works as a public obstetrician and gynaecologist at Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital (Sunshine Hospital).

Dr McGauran is warm, kind, thorough and ensures you feel heard. She puts your needs first, wants you to feel relaxed and safe during your consultations, and is willing to discuss sensitive topics without need for embarrassment. Holistic and individualised healthcare is at the forefront of every person she sees.

When not at work, Dr McGauran loves to run, hike, enjoy the outdoors and travel. She loves all things animals and volunteers at an animal sanctuary (Edgar’s Mission) fortnightly.

Dr McGauran looks forward to walking your gynaecological journey with you.

We provide a safe welcoming space.
