Women's colorectal surgery

Colorectal surgery

Colorectal surgery is the sub-specialty branch of general surgery that focuses on conditions affecting the large intestine (or ‘large bowel’). Colorectal surgeons have completed general surgical training, and then additional years of sub-specialist training focusing on the medical and surgical management of conditions such as:

  • Colon and rectal cancer
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (eg. Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis)
  • Familial cancer syndromes (eg. Lynch Syndrome, familial adenomatous polyposis)
  • Colonic polyps
  • Diverticulitis
  • Radiation proctitis
  • Rectal bleeding, haemorrhoids, perianal fistulae and fissures, and rectal prolapse
  • Abdominal wall herniae

Maven Centre is honoured to have Dr Fiona Reid working as part of our team. Originally from the UK, Fiona has completed both general surgical and colorectal surgical training programs locally in Australia (principally Melbourne, Adelaide and Newcastle). She works publicly at Western Health, and is a wonderful addition to the Maven Centre team.

Male patients are welcome to consult Fiona at Maven Centre, or at her rooms in Footscray.
